Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda is hospitalized and in intensive care, the Los Angeles Dodgers confirmed in a statement on Sunday.

The 93-year-old was admitted to a hospital in Southern California a week ago and his condition has continued to get worse, with the legendary manager put on a ventilator and sedated, according to TMZ Sports.

The condition is not believed to be related to COVID-19.

Lasorda, who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997, has been a baseball lifer and one of the more colorful personalities within the game’s history.

He joined the Dodgers organization in 1960 when he became a scout for the team and managed the franchise’s minor-league affiliates before becoming manager in 1976.

Lasorda served as Dodgers’ manager for 20 seasons -- from 1976 to 1996 – and won eight NL West titles, four pennants and two World Series championships, including the Dodgers’ last title before they won the World Series again last month, which Lasorda attended.

Following retirement, Lasorda has worked in various roles within the Dodgers’ front office. He is the oldest living Hall of Famer.
