Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to Sunset Boulevard and Formosa Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m. Friday regarding a multi-vehicle collision. When the officers arrived at the scene, they learned one driver rear-ended another vehicle, igniting a chain-reaction crash that included  at least four cars, each sustaining significant damage, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene, where they took the driver who rear ended the first vehicle to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

It was not immediately known if there were other injuries sustained in the collision.
