A man was found dead Wednesday, face down in the water at MacArthur Park, authorities said.

As KNX News' Pete Demetriou reports, Central Bureau Homicide detectives think the man died as a result of blunt force trauma from a beating before his body was tossed into the water.

Detectives are reviewing camera footage from the City Department of Parks and Recreation, which may have video of the attack and the people involved.

Several reported witnesses have also come forward and are being questioned. Detectives hope by combining the information, police will be able to identify the suspects in the killing.

The victim has been identified by the medical examiner as 28-year-old Kyle Sherwood.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 8:18 a.m. to the 2200 block of Sixth Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The man's body was discovered in the northeast section of the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
