When it comes to rebuilding in the wake of the Eaton Fire, a group of homeowners and a construction company that was building new homes in the area have joined forces with the hope of having 24 homes completely rebuilt in a year.

Pauline Ching, who lost her home in the fire, organized her neighbors in the wake of the disaster with a simple concept in mind: rebuilding quickly

“There was a builder already here, PLC Communities, who was building 18 new homes,” she told KNX News’ Pete Demetriou. “So I just called them up and asked them, would you be willing to help 54 of us?”

PLC Communities Vice President Jamie Todd said their abilities and the desires of 24 homeowners were almost a perfect fit.
“We were able to approach all of these subcontractors and vendors and say, ‘Hey, we have this potential to rebuild some of these people's, you know, homes and within this community, are you willing to come on board and do it with us?’” he said, “And they all said yes.”

Todd said homeowners looked at plans and signed off on them, and that PLC accelerated permitting and licensing.

Demetriou reported that if the construction project is successful, it could stand as a model for other groups of homeowners in the area.
