Big Bears eagles Shadow and Jackie are on their way to raising eaglets as two of their three eggs are hatching.
The first egg made a pip on Sunday, according to a post on Friends of Big Bear Valley’s Facebook page.
Then, on Monday morning, a second egg started to crack. The second egg crack happened on the third birthday of Spirit, Shadow and Jackie's last eaglet, which they raised back in 2023.
Sandy Steers with Friends of Big Bear Valley's told KNX News’ Karen Adams that Jackie is very good a having laying eggs three days apart.
“Eagles in general lay them 3 to 5 days apart, but she lays them exactly 3 days apart, and in the past it has sometimes been like exactly to the minute 3 days apart,” she said.
Steers added it could take a day or two for the eaglets to break from the eggs.
As for the third egg, Steers said it’s only 34 days old and is a couple of days away from possible hatching.
