CHATSWORTH (CNS) - A hiker described by fire officials as an "elderly" woman suffered an unspecified injury while hiking in the Chatsworth area Friday and was hoisted to safety.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded around 1 PM to the 3300 block of Mesa Drive on a report of an injured hiker, according to Nicholas Prange with the LAFD.

The woman was unable to walk out of the location near Chatsworth Park South Recreation Area on her own and was hoisted by a helicopter crew to safety and then taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
