Encino Little League families are frustrated about homeless encampments set up around baseball fields used by teams.
KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian reported one of the encampments is under the Ventura Fwy on Hayvenhurst Dr. There’s also another one directly above the Encino Little League fields.
“We've had, probably, five or six different types of residents that have moved here,” said Mikey Young, who’s been a baseball coach in Encino for 22 years. “One guy lived here probably, I would say close to two years, pretty close. They've come over, they've kind of used our stuff, kind of stole some of our electricity and things like that.”
The encampments have grown over the last month, according to Robert Glushon, the President of the Encino Property Owners Association.
“We have been trying to get these encampments cleared and getting local and state officials to provide housing and services for the past four weeks,” he said.
Councilmember Nithya Raman’s office the city is working swiftly to address the encampments and bring people indoors.
