Residents in an Encino neighborhood say they’re fed up with a “party house” in the area.
A woman who lives a couple of doors down from the home told KNX News’ Jon Baird that police broke up the most recent party, which happened on Saturday night.
“They broke it up around 9, but it's really loud and there were people bussed in,” she said.
Rob Glu-Shon, president of the Encino Property Owners Association, told Baird this has been a problem for years, adding that the owner is renting it out for these parties.
“The neighborhood's been under siege,” he said. “The police have been out here and cited them, I think at least three times, but imposition of fines…and fines is part of the doing business. They charge $100 per male. Females get in free. They had 500 people. You do the math.”
The home is next door to the house that belonged to “American Idol” music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, Danny Thomas. The couple was shot and killed inside the home by a burglar earlier this month.
Glu-Shon said even Kaye was bothered by the “party house.”

“She was begging the LAPD to shut this down,” he said. “She was at the police station the night before the murder with the police chief Jim McDonnell and, expressing concern about safety. Their house had been broken into previously. Having this party Saturday night, two weeks after the murder, was rubbing salt on the wound for all the neighbors here.”
Glu-Shon said the police said there’s no evidence of a tie between the party home and the couple’s death. He added that a meeting will be held on Thursday with the mayor and city officials to talk about safety in the area.
