Another evacuation alert was mistakenly sent out by to parts of L.A. County early Friday morning.
The message, sent out at 4 a.m., read: “NEW: This is an emergency message from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. An EVACUATION WARNING has been issued in your area. Remain vigilant of any threats and be ready to evacuate. Gather loved ones, pets, and supplies. Continue to monitor local weather, news, and the webpage alertla.org for more information.”
The office of L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger confirmed to KNX News 97.1 FM that the alert was sent by mistake.
People from Santa Monica to San Gabriel told KNX News they received the message.
This is the second evacuation alert to be sent out erroneously. One went out Thursday afternoon regarding the Kenneth Fire.
L.A. County officials released a statement at 6:43 AM on X, formerly Twitter, regarding the error messages.
"We are aware of the reports of erroneous messages, and we apologize for the disruption," the statement read. "We are working with FEMA to investigate the issue, and for the most current status of evacuation orders and warnings please review the map of evacuations on Alertla.org."
