ORIGINAL STORY
Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department said an unknown suspect stole a car with a dog that waited inside while its owner delivered someone’s food. Officers have recovered the car but not the family’s dog.
Charlie, a 3-year-old Argentinian Mastiff, sat inside the car in the 1300 block of Douglas Street Friday around 7:30 p.m., anticipating his owner's return.

Police said the car was left unlocked with the keys in the ignition, and a thief took off in the 2010 Honda Fit coupe with Charlie inside.
Officers said they tracked the orange, two-door car “a short time later” near Silent Eara Drive and Duane Street. But Charlie, the dog, was missing.
The family and police are asking for the public’s help locating the white, 100-pound Mastiff with his family. Officers said he has a “distinctive black patch over his left eye.”
The family offered an undisclosed reward for Charlie's safe return.
