Authorities responded to reports of a bear sighting in a Pasadena residential neighborhood on Monday.
Witnesses notified police sometime around 11 a.m. to the black bear seen near the 1100 block of North Los Robles Avenue. The animal had reportedly taken refuge in a tree.

Pasadena police have asked the public to avoid the area, if possible.
The bear possibly descended into Pasadena from the nearby San Gabriel Foothills, or wandered out of the Angeles National Forest, located just a few miles north of the suburban community.
A representative from the Pasadena Humane Society said because of the tree’s height, it would take several hours and a coordinated effort until the bear “is brought down,” Pasadena Now reported.
In August, wildlife officers tranquilized and removed a bear discovered in a Pasadena backyard.
