The mural, painted by Boyle Heights artist Robert Vargas, was supposed to be revealed on Friday on what would have been Valenzuela’s 64th birthday. The beloved player and broadcaster died last week.
In an Instagram post, Vargas said he’s planning to work nonstop for 72 hours to get the six-story mural done by noon on Nov. 3.
Vargas also painted the mural of Shohei Ohtani, which was unveiled in Little Tokyo earlier this year.
