MALIBU (CNS) - Firefighters Thursday were working to extinguish a fire that was burning in about an acre of brush in the Malibu area.

The fire was reported about 1 p.m. near the 3900 block of South Topanga Canyon Boulevard, near Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

No structures were threatened, the county fire department reported.

Crews reported they were making good progress in knocking down the fire, and a water-dropping helicopter that had been dispatched to the scene was canceled.

A section of PCH was closed in the area as a precaution, the California Highway Patrol reported.
