A fire damaged a duplex and a vacant house in the East Hollywood area Friday, but no one was hurt.
Firefighters sent to the 1100 block of North Berendo Street about 6 a.m. extinguished the flames in about a half hour, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
