Fire in South Gate damages commercial building

A fire damaged in a commercial building in the South Gate area Friday, but no one was hurt.

Firefighters were sent to a corner of Firestone Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue about 6:50 a.m. Friday, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The flames burned through the roof of the building, and a second-alarm assignment of firefighters was sent to the scene.

The fire was declared out at 9:46 a.m., the fire department reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
