Firefighters free trapped man at South L.A. mail processing center

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters freed a postal employee whose leg was trapped between two conveyor belts Tuesday evening in South Los Angeles.

Rescue personnel, including members of the department's Urban Search and Rescue team, were called at approximately 8:58 p.m. to U.S. Postal Service's Los Angeles Processing Center at 7001 S. Central Ave., near 70th Street, where they found the trapped man, said LAFD spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

The postal employee was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
