A former member of the boy band Menudo has filed a lawsuit alleging years of child sexual abuse by the band’s former manager as well as Jose Menendez.

Roy Rosella was between the ages of 13 and 16 when he was repeatedly raped and sexually abused by the band's manager, Eduardo Diaz, according to the lawsuit.

The allegations laid out in the federal lawsuit were first brought to light in the Peacock documentary Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed. The documentary focused on claims that Jose Menendez, then an executive at RCA Records, raped Rosello when he was 14 years old.

“Since the documentary came out, he has now told us that there were a number of sexual assaults by both Jose Menendez and Edgar Diaz over a period of several years in the mid-1980s,” journalist Robert Rand, who spent four years working on the documentary, told KNX News’ Emily Valdez.

Rand said Rossello kept silent for so long because he was ashamed.
