BEVERLY HILLS (KNX) - The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have identified the four men arrested for a “flash mob” robbery that occurred at a Home Depot in Lakewood.
Flash mob robberies are described as "large groups of suspects going into and grabbing merchandise without paying before running off."
Everett Lestorkindle, 22, Bronz Jackson, 20, Shawn Jones, 19 and Daniel DeHughes, 19 were arrested at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday on North Rexford Drive in Beverly Hills, the sheriff’s department told City News Service. Officials added they’re still searching for more suspects.
On Friday, a group consisting of eight people – varying in ages from 15 to 20 - went into the Home Depot at the Lakewood Center Mall just before 8 p.m. and stole various items from the tool isle, including crowbars and hammers, according to Fox 11.
One employee told the news outlet he and other employees tried to stop the group.
"We closed the front entrance and they put their sledgehammers up and whoever got in the way, they were going to hurt them,” Luis Romo recalled to the outlet.
On Saturday, deputies noticed a red car that matched the description of the robbery. The department told CNS a traffic stop was conducted and found new tools in the car. The four suspects in the car were arrested.
All four booked on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.
Officials said Lestorkindle, Jackson and Jones were being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. They are set to appear in the Bellflower Courthouse on Tuesday. Authorities said DeHughes was medically treated before he was booked.
It comes as several Los Angeles law enforcement officials continue to investigate flash mob robberies happening at stores. On Friday, the LAPD announced it was investigating two flash mob robberies. One occurred at Nordstrom and the other located in the 8500 block of Beverly Boulevard at the Beverly Center mall.
