Rebecca Grossman accused of orchestrating 'illegal conduct' from jail

L.A. County prosecutors are accusing convicted double murderer Rebecca Grossman of trying to direct potentially illegal conduct from jail.

They say she used several jailhouse phone calls with her husband and daughter to push them to collect new evidence to force a new trial - they now want her phone privileges revoked.

The prosecutors say she wanted her family to interfere with witnesses and pressure the judge.

L.A. defense attorney and legal analyst Lou Shapiro gave KNX News his take on how the judge will respond.

"I don't think her access to jail phones will be cut off because I think Judge Brandolini will be sympathetic to the fact that he knows she's in panic mode, she's hoping to make a motion for a new trial, and that her intentions are good. But at the same time, he will probably admonish her," said Shapiro.

He believes the judge will point out that for these things need to be done in a manner prescribed by the law, "You can't send your child out to go find this stuff," Shapiro said, "You need to use an investigator, and the investigator needs to properly identify themselves, who they are representing."

Prosecutors have also accused Grossman's legal team of attempted jury tampering.

She was convicted by a unanimous jury last month for the murders of 11-year-old Mark Iskander and his eight-year-old brother, Jacob.

Grossman hit them at a West Lake Village crosswalk in 2020 while speeding in her Mercedes SUV.
