Currently, the L.A. County Fire Department is only able to accept donations through mail-in checks. But on Monday, the Board of Supervisors approved a motion to let members of the public donate to the department online through the Los Angeles Emergency Preparedness Foundation.

“Since these unprecedented wildfires began there has been an outpouring of support for our first responders and people asking how they donate to our fire department and those risking their lives on the frontlines of these fires,” Supervisor Janice Hahn said. “I am grateful to the Los Angeles Emergency Preparedness Foundation for stepping up so that this generosity can reach our brave, selfless firefighters.”

The motion allows the LAEPF, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to receive and distribute donations on behalf of the L.A. County Fire Department. You can donate online at laepf.org/lacofd.

Contributions will go toward tools and equipment, community risk reduction efforts, youth and public education programs, and more.
