Residents in Hermosa Beach say they’re concerned about safety after a group of teens on e-bikes attacked a man.

The incident happened on November 2 near the Hermosa Beach Pier.  Video obtained by KTLA showed teens on e-bikes shove a man to the ground and then start punching and stomping on him. At one point, they whacked the man with a pizza box. The man was taken to the hospital and is now recovering at home.

There was a public forum held on Monday evening, where residents expressed their anger over the attack and demanded that the teens in the attack be criminally charged.

Cammy and Brian, who were out walking their dogs on Tuesday morning, told KNX News’ Karen Adams they've had problems with rogue teens before, and the issue is “getting out of control.”

“The problem is this isn't the first time that it's a group,” Cammy said. “I think what makes the safety piece different than just the obnoxious biker.”

Brian said he wants to see the teens held accountable for their actions.

“I would like to see some repercussions for their actions to deter the others, because right now the repercussions don't seem to be much,” he said.

Police have identified the five teens in the attack, and at least two were arrested. Following the attacks, Manhattan Beach Middle School officials confirmed the teens were students at that school and sent out emails about the attack, urging parents to speak with their kids about not being a menace and about e-bike safety.
