In a statement, officials said, "Camouflaged cameras are a tactic being used in residential burglaries. "Suspects will place hidden cameras in areas where they can gather information about neighborhoods and particularly homeowners' daily routines."

Lieutenant John Bonomo with the Arcadia Police Department told KNX News' Nataly Tavidian, "In this particular instance, the camera was camouflaged with fake leaves, so it would appear as part of the actual shrubbery that it was in, and it had a clip attached to it."

He said the camera appeared to have been positioned to view other homes in the area, but fell off the clip, which was still attached to the branch.

Bonomo said that criminal use of hidden cameras is relatively new to his department, but it is not a foreign tactic to law enforcement at large, saying, "We're finding is there's a lot of agencies experiencing the same type of encounters."

This discovery marks two in one year for Arcadia PD, as another camera was found in July roughly a mile away.
