To shine a light on efforts in the fight to end homelessness and raise some funds, Hope the Mission's president and founder will be cycling from Los Angeles to the nation's capital.
KNX News' Margaret Carrero connected with Founder Ken Craft, who says one of their goals is to raise $350,000 - $100 for every mile they ride.
He said, "Those funds are going to be used to help us establish a brand new women's drug and alcohol residential recovery program here in Los Angeles.
As he and President Rowan Vansleve bike across the country, Craft says they want to find out what's working and what needs to be fixed in each major city.
"So we're actually going to put a documentary together called, 'Homeless from Coast to Coast: The Causes Consequence and Cures," said Craft.
The idea is that it can be a playbook for all American cities.

According to Craft, "This really is a humanitarian crisis. It's a blight on communities, and it's solvable. We have learned at Hope that the first step is to bring people indoors. As long as people are living outside, it's nearly impossible to treat addiction. It's nearly impossible to address mental health issues."
He said once people are brought inside, underlying issues that led to homelessness and the problems that are preventing people from being permanently housed can be addressed.
