A man was arrested Tuesday in connection with human remains found in the backyard of a North Hills home.
The remains were found at a home in the 16200 block of Community Court. Investigators said the remains are connected to a missing person case from June.
LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said the missing persons unit has been investigating the case for six months, and homicide detectives became involved a few weeks ago.
“We were able to, while serving a search warrant [Tuesday], make a determination that our cadaver dogs identified an area of interest,” Hamilton told KNX News’ Pete Demetriou. “That is where we found the remains.”
48-year-old Russell Robinson was later arrested on suspicion of murder at a separate location. He’s being held on $2 million bail.
The victim was identified Wednesday as 35-year-old Carlos DeLeon, from Guatemala.
