An inmate's death Tuesday morning at the Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles has prompted an investigation by homicide detectives.

The man's death was reported just after 5 a.m. Tuesday at the jail at 441 Bauchet St.
No details were released about the inmate's cause of death or why he was incarcerated.
The sheriff's department investigates all in-custody deaths, which are also examined by department oversight bodies such as the Inspector General's Office.
