The interrogation tape of a man charged with murder for allegedly shooting six-year-old Aiden Leos on the 55 freeway in Orange County in May 2021 was played for jurors Monday during his ongoing trial.

Marcus Eriz was arrested on June 8, 2021, in connection with the fatal shooting of Leos.

KNX News’ Margaret Carrero reported that when Eriz was asked by investigators why he allegedly grabbed the gun and pulled the trigger, he said he didn’t think about it.

The shooting happened after Aiden’s mother gave him the middle finger in response to allegedly being cut off by Eriz’s girlfriend. Eriz acknowledged during the interrogation that it was correct that he grabbed the gun from behind his girlfriend's seat and fired the gun.

When he was asked about when he found out that he had hit Aiden, he said it was about a week after the shooting when someone at work mentioned that the car that he and his girlfriend drove was the same car the police were looking for. Eriz said he looked it up and saw a report, then realized what he had done.

Eriz pleaded not guilty to two counts, including murder. He faces a maximum of 40 years to life if convicted as charged.
