Mental health workers picketed outside Kaiser Permanente's corporate headquarters in Pasadena Wednesday due to the lack of movement at the bargaining table.

“Where is Greg Adams?” chants could be heard outside the building on E. Walnut St. as workers pin him as the man responsible for the impasse.

Adams, the company's CEO, made $13 million in salary and other benefits last year, while mental health care professionals have been on the picket lines since October.

Sal Rosselli, president emeritus of the National Union of Healthcare Workers, says Kaiser has not responded to a union proposal at the bargaining table over the last two weeks, leaving patients to suffer.

"Patients in Southern California are waiting 16 weeks for initial intake appointment," Rosselli said. "Also in Southern California, 85% of Kaiser patients are not getting timely access to an appointment that's required by law."

Kaiser maintains that the business model for Southern California is different from that of the northern part of the state and requires more concessions from the union.

It is unclear when both sides will be back at the bargaining table to try to work out a deal with the assistance of labor mediators.
