A family man in Orange County is making a big difference in the Muslim community with his leadership and continuous outreach. He's our KNX Helpful Honda Hero of the Week!
He's a husband, a dad to three daughters, and he's everywhere. Participating at a blood drives. Getting behind the mic during a community picnic. Packing care bags for people on Skid Row who need a little support. MehdiReza Hirji is always helping, always leading.
"The past few years, I've really turned my attention to focus on the Muslim community," says the CPA. "Especially after 9/11, I really wanted to make sure our Muslim community had the capability, had the voice, had the platform to show all the goodness that's being done."
Mehdi is a member of numerous committees, and he sits on the board of several organizations, including UMMA Community Clinic, the Shia Muslim Council, and the Muslim Burial Organization of Los Angeles. "The organizations that I am involved with, first, help you live healthy. Then, we connect you to the community. We allow you to give back, through charity, and at the end, we give you a dignified return to God."

Mehdi is connecting a community that can often be underserved. He was nominated to be a KNX Hero by Dr. Shakeela Shah. "I find that he is always available, he's always there," explains Dr. Shah. "He's at the forefront of trying to help out."
Mehdi's sensitivity towards people of other cultures and backgrounds is rooted from his own family story: his mother is from Zanzibar, in East Africa. His father is from India, and his family lived in Iran and Pakistan before moving to California when Mehdi was three. "We first landed in Santa Monica. About a year after that, [we moved to] the Anaheim area. Then, about 7 or 8 years ago, we moved to Yorba Linda."
