Track meets, team building, and tassels - L'Mio Edwards has a lot going on, and she's making her community better each and every step.

When we last heard from Edwards, she was being honored for her outreach efforts with a Miss Diamond Bar scholarship pageant.

Since then, Edwards tells Heroes Host Heather Jordan, she's been working on community cross country and track meet events, led the Poetic Archives project at Lorbeer Middle School, and her non-profit officially became a 501(c)(3) in January.

The non-profit 'Team L'Mio' is about helping student-athletes access the resources they need in order to thrive.

"To succeed with balancing academics and athletics, I know how challenging it can be, and I really want to provide a safe and welcoming environment where kids have access to so many resources not just to be typical student-athletes but to go above and beyond," said Edwards.
