KNX Hero Update: L.A. fire relief with Bracken's Kitchen!

Bracken's Kitchen, based in Orange County, is known for feeding those in need. For years, they've been making fresh, hot meals every day and sending them all over SoCal.

When the fires started, thousands of first responders were deployed, working hours on end, and they, along with many evacuees, were in need of a warm meal.

In true Hero fashion, Bracken's Kitchen was one of many local organizations that stepped up. To give relief, Founder and Culinary Director Bill Bracken says he felt, like many others, an urge to help in any way he could.

"One of our guiding principles is a quote from Martin Luther King Jr.," Bracken told Heroes Host Heather Jordan. "'Life's most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others?' and I truly believe that inside of every human being, regardless of who you are, where you're at, what you've been through, deep inside is this need and desire just to help others."

With that MLK maxim in mind, Bracken's Kitchen connected with Humanitarian and Chef Jose Andres of World Central Kitchen.

Together, they mobilized to feed a large group of seniors who were evacuated from the Eaton Fire, delivered meals for frontline workers, and assisted with several other needs.

Bracken believes that with all that is happening in the world, people are more connected than ever, and when tragedy strikes, communities come together. He says it's amazing.
