LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer dropped out of the mayoral race and is throwing support behind Representative Karen Bass.

Feuer announced his endorsement of Bass during a press conference in Encino.

"I'm proud to stand here with my longtime friend, colleague and partner to endorse, in the strongest possible terms, Karen Bass for mayor of Los Angeles," Feuer said, according to City News Serice.

"Karen is a great listener, treats everyone with respect, has values and is less focused on who gets the credit than about accomplishing big things."

The Los Angeles Times cited an interview with Feuer on Tuesday prior to the conference, in which he said, “I have done polling and without a major infusion of additional money to stay on the air, I can’t win.”

It comes almost a week after City Councilman Joe Buscaino dropped out of the race and announced his support for Rick Caruso.

The candidates left in the race are Bass, Caruso, Kevin de León, Gina Viola, Mel Wilson, Craig Greiwe, Alex Gruenenfelder Smith, Andrew Kim, Ramit Varma and John "Jsamuel" Jackson.

Voting for the mayoral election ends June 7.
