Los Angeles City Hall was put on lockdown as police investigated a suspicious package outside the building on Tuesday.

The LAPD closed Spring Street for the investigation. The department's bomb squad was also brought in.

The package was described as a black box that contained what appeared to be an electronic. It was found on or near a bus bench.

It comes almost a week after two staffers for Mayor Karen Bass were hospitalized after finding a suspicious package in the mailroom. Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Erik Scott said that while the employees did not show signs of illnesses, they were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Spring Street reopened around 12:00 p.m. after the suspicious package was cleared.
