L.A. Metro is getting boatloads of cash from the federal government to prepare for the 2028 Olympic games.

KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian reported on the funding, which will go toward much-needed transit infrastructure upgrades in Greater Los Angeles.

L.A. Mayor Karen Bass recently led a delegation to Paris to find out more about hosting the Olympic Games. She said the message was that there is no time to waste in preparing.

“So this nearly $900 million in federal funding that is coming to the region to expand Metro's rail system ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be vital for our success,” Bass said.

Senator Alex Padilla said the money comes from a combination of the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and the recently approved appropriations bill.

The projects include many new bus services, bike share stations, and mobility hubs to get around L.A. more efficiently.
