The department said Officer Crystal Lara, a 12-year veteran, allegedly submitted forged doctor’s notes for medical benefits.

Lara was booked into Metropolitan Detention Center, but was released after posting $20,000 bail.

“Internal Affairs Division in partnership with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office established probable cause to believe the doctor's notes were forged,'' the department said. “Officer Lara has been relieved of her police powers.''

The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office also filed charges against Lara for forgery.
