It was about 12:30 Saturday morning when L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy Luis Cisneros was finishing his shift - making one last stop at a 7-Eleven to check in on the employees and maybe do some shopping.

Deputy Cisneros noticed a car outside the convenience store, which typically would not raise any red flags, but as he told KNX News' Emily Valdez, he had a feeling something was off.

"I looked into the windows of the store, but I couldn't see much due to the advertisement. When I walked and opened the door of the store, that's when I realized, wait a minute, there's something happening- There's armed robbery in progress," Cisneros said.

He saw the five armed robbers behind the counter with the employee going through the cash register. Cisneros recalls pulling his weapon as quickly as he could, attempting to detain them at gunpoint, but the group made a run for the emergency exit at the back of the store.

"I lost sight of them, and... all I heard was them trying to exit through the emergency door. At this point, I got on my radio and requested for deputies to respond to my location," said Cisneros.

As he awaited backup, Cisneros gave verbal commands for the suspects to lay on the floor with their hands on their heads until more deputies could arrive.

Thankfully, assistance arrived very quickly and although the getaway driver took off, the other five suspected robbers were arrested.

The sheriff's department believes the group may be responsible for other 7-Eleven robberies in the Carson area.
