LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Museumgoers got a sneak peek of what the La Brea Tar Pits Campus could become this week, including a new building, a massive square footage upgrade, and a possible dog park.
Renovations — displayed Tuesday — to include a new building, doubling the museum’s current size with the addition of 41,000 square feet of space, and a double-helix loop, according to Beverly Press.
Other additions include a public park and a children's playground.
“We want the Tar Pits to be a place of discovery and inspiration for people of all ages,” Dr. Luis Chiappe, senior vice president of research and collections, and architecture, told the outlet.
Weiss/Manfredi, a New York architecture firm, designed the renovations.
Museum officials aim to have the renovations done by the 2028 Summer Olympics.
