If you are 50 years old or older -- hurry and get your COVID shot at vaccination sites run by the City of LA.

City officials confirm to KNX 1070 News that there are still some 16,000 appointments available from Thursday through Saturday.

Now is the time if you're eligible because it could become very hard to sign up next week when vaccine eligibility expands to everyone in California over the age of 16.

And because of some supply bottle neck issues LA's Deputy Mayor Jeff Gorell tells KNX 1070 News it'll be a "lean week."

"Because of the national impacts to supply chain that was initially created by some of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine failing in the factory, there is going to be at least a week where we just have a very small number of extra first-time doses available," he says.

But you still can not get your shot even if you're just 18 and older.

The city of LA won't be shifting to giving shots to all adults until next week because there's a lot of prep work to be done including updating the reservation online portal.

The clinic, run by the St. John's Well Child and Family Center, estimates it has vaccinated more than 100,000 people in the Los Angeles area amid reports of two undocumented women who were refused coronavirus vaccinations in Orange County Rite Aid stores.
