The continuing rain is causing even more anxiety for Rancho Palos Verdes, where the ground has been shifting for years.

It's tearing homes apart, buckling streets and opening sinkholes, and
L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn tells L.A.'s Afternoon News that it's time for Governor Newsom to see the devastation and for the state to lend a hand.

Hahn was in the area Monday and said, "I think that even for me without seeing it, for myself, it's hard to believe that the acceleration of this land movement on the Palos Verdes Peninsula is as drastic as it is."

The area is under a local state of emergency, but Supervisor Hahn says the state and federal governments will also have to help deal with the problem.
