L.A. police officer, 2 others hospitalized after fentanyl exposure fear in Porter Ranch

PORTER RANCH, Calif. (KNX) — At least three people, including a Los Angeles Police Department officer who responded to reports of multiple overdoses in Porter Ranch, were hospitalized Monday morning for possible exposure to fentanyl.

According to police, the incident was reported shortly after 9 a.m. in the 20400 block of Sorrento Lane. A parole officer went to conduct a compliance check and found three people suffering from apparent fentanyl overdoses, police said.

The officer reportedly also came into contact with the narcotic at the scene.

The parole officer, another LAPD officer sent to investigate, and at least one of the civilians found at the scene were taken to a hospital.

The LAPD said its officer was in good condition. The conditions of the others are unknown.

A team of investigators said they would examine materials from the scene to determine if they were hazardous.
