LAPD officer shot in the hand

An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department was shot in the hand in Pacoima on Friday.

It happened near the 13200 block of Paxton Street just before 8 a.m., according to the department.

Officers were responding to restraining order violation, where the suspect was seen in the back house, according to LAPD.

Police said there was some resistance from the suspect, whose handfgun was allegedly discharged and injured the officer.

The officer, a 27-year-old, was hospitalized and is in stable condition.

The suspect was described as a 50-year-old man.

As a result of the shooting, Paxton Street from Herrick to Glen Oaks was impacted for several hours.
