LAPD searching for suspect in deadly Melrose Ave. shooting

The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a murder case.

On Wednesday just before 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting victim at Melrose Avenue and Genesee Avenue. Officials found an adult man in the street with a gunshot wound. Officials said he was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said an argument had broken out between a group of men and women at a shoe raffle in front of a store in the 7700 block of Melrose Avenue. The victim arrived in the area and was then shot. The suspect left the scene.

Officials described the suspect as “a Hispanic male.”
