About two dozen people had to evacuate a series of apartment units in South L.A. Wednesday as an LAPD SWAT team searched for and found a man wanted for attempted murder.
According to LAPD Commander Lillian Carranza, the suspect, a man in his 30s, had allegedly fired several rounds at one of his neighbors on Adams Blvd Tuesday night, missing the intended target's head by mere inches.
After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene.

An overnight search failed to find the man, but when he was spotted late Wednesday morning, police returned to the area, along with a SWAT team.
At first, the man, with his girlfriend by his side, refused to come out until SWAT convinced him to surrender with the threat of tear gas, Carranza told KNX News' Pete Demetriou.
The man came out with his hands up and was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. The woman who was living inside the apartment with the man was not injured and was not arrested.
