
School kids in the city of LA will also be getting access again to in-person services at libraries starting today.
The Central Library and 37 of the 73 branches are reopening with browsing allowed for up to an hour and people able to use computers if they reserve a time.
Meanwhile, the LA County system has announced it will be reopening 30 more of its branches next Monday.
County Librarian Sky Patrick tells KNX that the branches are a vital part of local communities.
Both library systems will still run their contactless services allowing people to drop off and pick up books and DVDs.
Libraries will reopen at 75% capacity, while also maintainomg 6-feet of physical distance for customers. In preparation for reopening additional doors to the public, LA County Library is working diligently to ensure safety protocols are met and appropriate preventative measures are in place.
