Travelers at LAX spotted a different sight on their way to Thanksgiving destinations – picket lines.

KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian spoke to striking workers on Tuesday who say they want better benefits, among other things. Ray Lopez, a chef at restaurant Engine 28 in Terminal 8, said the company they work for is the lowest-paying in the airport.

“I just want them [travelers] to know that, you know, we're fighting for more money, for our contract fairness, and our pension,” he said.

All of the workers at Engine 28 joined him on the picket line. There were also dozens of employees from other restaurants in the airport.

Many eateries were closed inside of LAX because of the strike. Lopez apologized to travelers for not being able to cook food today.

This strike lands in the middle of a busy travel week. LAX is expected to see record-breaking crowds for Thanksgiving.
