On Monday, Long Beach officials cut the ribbon on some big improvements to El Dorado Park.

Mayor Rex Richard said the improvements on the city’s largest park were long overdue.

"This is a park everyone in our city knows and loves and every time we get an opportunity to invest in this park, we know that they're gonna literally be thousands of families who are gonna benefit from these improvements,” he said.

Eric Lopez, Director of Public Works in Long Beach, spoke with KNX News’ Jon Baird about some of the improvements people can look forward to.

“We renovated the restrooms right next to the ball fields,” he said. “We made some major improvements to all of our baseball fields and softball fields, and throughout the park. We also invested in the roadways, and repaving them.”
