A three-alarm fire gutted a long-standing bar and grill in Torrance Monday, while also damaging an adjoining business in the strip mall, but no injuries were reported.

The fire was reported around 2 a.m. at Texas Loosey's Chili Parlor & Saloon at 22252 Palos Verdes Blvd., Torrance police Lt. F. Ahmad told City News Service.

Two hours later, it appeared firefighters had put out the flames, but video from the scene showed crews continuing to pour water on hot spots.

The flames also appeared to damage a dental practice in the mall as well. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Torrance police officers were blocking traffic in the area, Ahmad said.

Southbound traffic on Palos Verdes Boulevard was shut down at Sepulveda Boulevard and northbound traffic was shut down at Linda Drive.

"Very devastating moment -- Texas Loosey's was burned down last night," the eatery's operators posted on Facebook Monday morning. "Luckily nobody was injured. We have lots of employees without a job so please if you guys know anyone hiring please (message) us -- for dishwaser, cooks, waitresses & bartenders."

The bar was known as a popular hangout for South Bay locals, known for its monthly classic car shows, live music and karaoke nights.

Supporters of the business announced plans to hold a candlelight gathering outside the location at 6 p.m. Friday to show appreciation for the owners and the restaurant's years of operation.
