Police arrested a man following a three-and-a-half-hour standoff in the Mount Washington area on Wednesday.
Officers responded to the 4500 block of Marmion Way around 7:30 a.m. after an Uber driver told two transit officers that the man in his car threatened him with a gun.
The suspect stayed in the backseat. Officers with the LAPD Northeast Division tried to get him to come out of the car, but the suspect refused.
The mental evaluation unit and SWAT also responded. The man told them he couldn’t get out of the backseat because of the child locks.
SWAT officers got the key fob from the driver and let the man out.
He surrendered to the police just before 11 a.m. Officers discovered the man was armed with a BB gun.
No injuries were reported.
During the standoff, trains between the Highland Park and Heritage Square stations were paused because the car was parked outside the Metro A (Blue) Line Southwest Museum Station. Service has since resumed.
