A Torrance man has been charged with murder for allegedly selling fentanyl to another man who overdosed and died.

Freddy Dijor, a Thousand Oaks resident, had just gotten out of rehab when he was found dead from a fentanyl overdose at a hotel.

Thomas Syslo was arrested in Dijor’s death. Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko told KNX News’ Emily Valdez that Syslo was charged with second-degree murder.

“This is somebody who we are alleging knew about the drug, had a history of operating and selling it and therefore possessed for this murder charge the necessary element of knowledge that is he knew about the risks of this drug,” he said. “He was aware of it, yet he disregarded those risks and sold it anyway.

Prosecutors say when cops raided Syslo's home, they found 28 grams of fentanyl.

Syslo remains in jail on $1 million bail.
