Firefighters were dispatched about 9 a.m. to 13556 W. Remington St., where they reported a partial collapse of the structure, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Three dogs were rescued, according to KNX News' Craig Fiegener.

Officials were at the scene to address the structural integrity of the home, prior to allowing firefighters to enter the residence.

Luis, who lives across the street, told Fiegener the explosion was the worst he’s ever heard in his life.

“First I thought, ‘Maybe the Freeway?’ No. Way louder than that,” he said. “The roof blew up. I looked at my roof because I was inside the house…it's [the victim’s] house and I made my way over there and the guy was on the ground being attended. It looked like something out of the movies.“

He said the man told him no one else was in the house and that there were more explosives or fireworks inside the house.
