Man killed at construction site in Bel Air identified

A man fatally injured Tuesday while working near heavy machinery at a residential construction site in Bel Air was identified Wednesday.

The victim was identified as 42-year-old Walter Lopez Gonzalez of Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Crews were dispatched around 10:10 a.m. Tuesday to the hillside work site at 10663 W. Chalon Road near the intersection of Lausanne Road, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"Despite the quick response of LAFD crews, his injuries proved fatal," according to the LAFD.

Fire officials indicated that at the time of the accident, the man was near equipment that could have included an auger and a skip loader.

No other injuries were reported.
